Today, Year 4 led the school and their parents and carers in a Celebration of the Word with the theme, 'Let Your Light Shine'. The children led us in reflecting on the following Gospel passage:
A Reading from the Gospel of Matthew (Mt 5:14-16)
Jesus said, “You are light for the world. A city built on a hill-top cannot be hidden. No-one lights a lamp to put it under a tub; they put it on the lamp-stand where it shines for everyone in the house. In the same way, your light must shine in people’s lives so that, seeing your good works, they may give your praise to your Father in Heaven.”
We then reflected on different ways we can share the light of Jesus with others in our world. Year 4 led us in the following prayers:
Let us pray. The response to each prayer is: Jesus, bring your light. |
To those living in places of war and famine: Jesus, bring your light. |
To those who are lonely: Jesus, bring your light. |
To those who are suffering in any way: Jesus, bring your light. |
To people in hospital: Jesus, bring your light. |
To world leaders: Jesus, bring your light. |
To the homeless: Jesus, bring your light. |
To all the adults and children in our school: Jesus, bring your light. |
At the end, one of the pupils reminded us of our mission:
In the coming week, remember to choose words and actions that let your light shine.
Well done and thank you, Year 4!
